Already fostering? We’d love you to consider transferring to us if you think we’re a better fit for your values and you think we can better support your foster family.
We understand that changing agencies is a big decision, particularly if you have children already placed with you. We'll work closely with your current agency and local authority to make the transition as smooth as possible.
There are a number of fostering organisations, many of these are impersonal, profit making agencies. We're a community organisation, started by an experienced Charity, that really does care about children and young people and puts them first. By transferring to us, you’ll be helping build a new ethical fostering agency that wants to better support children and foster parents. We aren't a flash agency with expensive offices, company cars and paying six figure salaries; we invest all of our money in helping local children.
A financial package worth £396-£463 per week - this breaks down to £360 - £430 per week per child placed (depending on the age of the child), when short break care and holiday payments are deducted. If you don’t use your short break care, you get this as a lump sum at the end of the year. This works out as at least £18,720 - £22,360 per child per year. It’s usually tax free for a single placement.
If your agency pays more than us per week, we’ll consider matching your current rate for 12 months if you complete mentoring training and support new foster parents in our network. If you are on a special rate because of the way the placement has been commissioned, we will explore matching that with the council that commissioned the placement.
Our support package for foster parents also includes 18 days short break care and birthday, christmas and school holiday payments. More information about our support can be found here.
You'll be joining a agency small enough to provide personalised support but big enough to change the lives of children.
We are owned by a charity, we are beyond profit. Every penny is spent on helping local children and families ( which is morally how it should be). By joining us you will be helping to disrupt the profit dominated fostering market and put more money into fostered children.
Our Education Support programme and activity and access to befriending services will help your foster children do well and be happy. We are involved in work to help young people make the transition to independent living, and want to work to support them in later life.
Foster parents need knowledge and skills, and tools to use.
First of all, we're local, with an office in Hartlepool so you can pop in when you need too. At CFF you'll get fortnightly face to face supervision and benefit from psychologically informed training co-designed with foster parents and young people who've left care.
The Transfer Process
Recognising your existing skill base and experience in fostering.
Step 1: Get in touch with our team and find out how our agency might be a better fit for your family. We'll let you know more about our training opportunities and also our allowance match for the first 12 months.
Step 2: When you're ready to take the next step and transfer you'll need to notify your current agency.
Step 3: You'll meet your assessing social worker. They will be completing your assessment, it's an opportunity for us to find out about your existing skills and experience you've gained.
Step 4: We'll invite you along to our Changing Futures through Training fostering course so you can meet more of our team and other foster parents.
Step 5: An independent panel will review your assessment and make a recommendation to our the Agency Decision Maker.
