Everything we do is for the benefit of children and young people, and adults who have been in care.
We think the fostering ‘marketplace’ needs a shakeup. More of the agencies that foster need to be better at listening to children in care and foster parents, and give foster parents far better training and support. We believe all children should be placed with agencies that place children before profit. Our aim is to be a disruptive factor in the local, profit making dominated, fostering market. We will increase the number of children supported by not for profit agencies.
We support foster parents and train them in therapeutic approaches and offer continuous development opportunities. A well support foster parent means a well cared for child.
Therapeutic Training & Development
Increasingly, foster parents find children and young people they foster have a highly complex set of needs due to the trauma experienced prior to coming into care. Some of the top training gaps identified are therapeutic parenting and attachment.
We’ve developed training in partnership with foster parents, care experienced children and an experienced therapist. This training enables foster parents to build therapeutic parenting skills and supports them to foster with confidence.
We believe that positive and healthy relationships are essential to growth, development, happiness and effectiveness. That all members of a foster family have a right to be safe and supported. We are motivated to achieve the best we can for children and young people. We think foster parents, birth parents and workers in our agency and other agencies are important too. We care about people, because they are people. We will consider them and support them in their roles.
It's important to us that we live our values and beliefs. If you think that we aren't, tell us. If you share our values and beliefs we'd love you to think about fostering with us. It all starts with a friendly conversation.
